Safe and Sound

Thank you to everyone for all the messages checking in. We are all fine. We miraculously have power, which is fantastic for many reasons, but most importantly because Ezra takes several medications that require refrigeration. We have some down trees and our street is blocked in both directions (the town told us our street is a "proverbial war zone.") Ezra is on a medical priority list for the town. They checked in on us and said they will work on access to the street for ambulances in case of an emergency.

The biggest issue we've had so far is that our little nature lover started sobbing when he saw the broken trees. Not sure how we're going to get the trees cleared without breaking his heart.

We hope everyone is safe!

  1. Dear Robin, Evan and Ezra,

So glad to hear that everyone is ok.

I was thinking about what you said about the trees. Why don't you explain to him that some
trees live many hundreds of years and when their
roots get weak, the wind from storms blows them
down to make room for new baby trees.

You could show him a book with lots of trees
and have him draw a picture of his house with
some of this favorite trees and hang it up.

If you want to, you can ask him if he would like
to help the gardener plant a couple of his favorite trees, so that they can grow big and
strong like the ones he loved.

I think he's really love that and it would give
him something exciting to look forward to.

Anyway, Keep the faith...you know we're always
    praying for him.

Much love, Michele, John and your Great Aunt Miriam
